Professionally run camp with small individual houses with tent ceiling no real tents 5 km from the next village. The interior of the normal family tent is a bit low level for an upmarket camp, however, we liked the choice and the quality of the dinner buffet. Sufficient choice of sunset and sunrise activities for teenagers.

It was a great stay in every single aspect. I am logging my reviews here, after my stay at the ' Desert Nights Camp' just yesterday. The hotel driver picked us up from there and for the return , we were dropped at Al Mintrib to catch the return bus back to Muscat. The bus was air-conditioned and pretty comfortable. Posting this to help travellers who are looking for details on how to commute to and from the camp.

Pascal wrote a review Sep Hong Kong, China 93 contributions 52 helpful votes. Construction on site. Great scenery but the ongoing construction was a bit annoying. There was little effort to make up for it as not even the campfires were lit in the evening and most of the menu has been removed read no mocktails, less food options.

Construction at site. The restaurant is closed and subject to reconstruction. Instead, the tv and games room is used as a dinner and breakfast room. The construction is during day and night time. Loud tools will be heard while you are eating!

As the camp is only 15km into the desert, it doesn't perhaps feel as secluded as alternative options, but this is definitely the best choice for families with younger children, and for couples looking for an adventure without having to compromise on comfort. Desert Nights Camp offers 30 Bedouin style en-suite air-conditioned tents. Bedrooms feature queen size or twin beds and the en-suite bathrooms are fully equipped with hot water showers.
Children are welcome to come and stay at Desert Nights Camp. However, there are no specific facilities available for them at the camp.

Facilities at the camp include a dining area, bar, a lounge with DVD library, and a telescope for stargazing. Two Dunes Restaurant serves authentic Arabic cuisine in a relaxed atmosphere. The restaurant has been elegantly furnished with traditional Omani wooden furniture and you can choose to eat inside or outside. Children's taste requirements can be catered for upon request. The Oasis Bar serves a wide selection of fine wines, cocktails, spirits and fresh juices to help you unwind at the end of the day. There are a range of activities of which you can partake in during your stay at Desert Nights Camp.
They include dune bashing, quad biking and camel rides to explore the desert.
You can also explore the moonlit skies with the hotel's telescope. A smart well designed camp with lots of home comforts located around 20 minutes drive into the desert. Whilst still being a very comfortable place to stay, the camp still retains the adventurous feel of being in the desert. I liked the tasteful interiors and in the evening the BBQ and bar area is idea for meeting fellow travellers and enjoying a glass of wine under the stars. Well worth the two hour trip from Muscat - the desert is at the very heart of Omans historical makeup and a stay here will make your trip all the more memorable.
Desert night's camp is only located 15km into the Wahiba Sands, this is an ideal desert retreat for those looking for a relaxed and very comfortable stay. Its a great way to see the Wahiba Sands and watch the sun setting on a sand dune. This is not somewhere to experience the true Bedouin life.
What it’s like to spend the night in the Sahara Desert.
Many activities can be organised from Desert Nights Camp if you can tear yourself away from the comforts of your desert villa. This stretch of the canyon is away from the more frequently visited pools, offering hours of fun-filled adventure. Nizwa was the capital of Oman in the 6th and 7th Centuries and is one of the oldest cities in Oman. There is a lot to see here and in the surrounding area including a bustling Friday market, the restored Nizwa Fort and date farms.
Whilst life in the desert may seem like a harsh environment, many people still choose this as their home. Visit the house of a Bedouin family, where you can enjoy a traditional lunch and learn more about their day to day life and culture. Stop off at a wadi and enjoy the beautiful surroundings where you can enjoy a gentle walk, or even a swim in the water.
The camp is only a 3-hour drive away from Muscat, the capital of the Sultanate of Oman.
